Scotland National Team EURO 2021 – All Important Information

The Scotland National Team had a lot of luck during the play-offs, facing 2 huge tests against Serbia and Israel in path C. They managed to beat Serbia with the result 5-4 and got the chance to, once again, be a part of one major international tournament after a long period of time (1998).

The biggest hero of the match was Scotish goalkeeper, David Marshall who saved the decisive spot-kick of the Serbian player Aleksandar Mitrovic in Belgrade last November and secured Scotland their spot at the tournament.

It was a hard time for Scotish team to secure their place at this Championship, having failed to qualify for the EURO via the conventional route, but after the play-offs, they finally made it! Can they hope for any great success in this competition? Let’s take a look at the most important information about the squad!

Football Manager of the Scotland National Team

The current manager of the Scotland National Team is the former football player and manager Stephen Clarke. He is most responsible for the fact that Scotland finally, after 23 years, managed to qualify for EURO 2021. He has worked alongside many big names in the world of football, such as Jose Mourinhho, Kenny Dalgish, and Ruud Gullit.

This former defender of Chelsea National Team, and the current manager of Scotland has managed to win 10 draw 3 games in 19 matches. Nevertheless, his biggest achievement so far is qualifying for the first European Championship since 1996.

Here is what the possible lineup of Scotland National Team for the European Championship could look like: Craig Gordan on the goal, Jack Hendry, Grant Hanley, and Kieran Tierny will be in the back. Stephen O’Donnell,  Ryan Christie, John McGinn, Scott McTominay, and Andrew Robertson in the midfield, Ryan Fraser and Che Adams are expected in the front line.

The Key Player of the Scotland National Team

David Marshall is, perhaps, the biggest star of the Scotland National Team, having managed to secure his team a place in this prestigious international competition. Although 36-year-old, Marschall remained one of the key players of his team. He’s very commanding and sturdy on the goal, and has an excellent control over his game, according to his rich experience on the field.

Another key player of the team is Andrew Robertson, a left-back for the Premier League club Liverpool and the captain of the Scotland National Team. He was named in the PFA Team of the Year in the 2018/19 performances thanks to his fantastic performances.

Robertson is known as the energising attacking threat on the field and will definitely manage to do the best possible thing because he never fails to disappoint in the field. ScottMcTominay is the central midfielder for Manchester United and Scotland National Team. He has a lot to offer on the field, from his driving runs and defensive resilience.

Tactics & Form of the Scotland National Team for the EURO 2021

Clarke, the football manager of the Scotland National Team had changed the tactics for the games against Israel and Serbia and it looked like this: Tierney and Robertson into one side, which are, without any doubt, one of the most important players of Scotland National Team. It’s clear that Stephen O’Donnell will man the opposite wing-back berth to Robertson.

The central midfielder, Scott McTominay will have a clear path for running forward, and could easily link with McGregor and McGinn who will support him. When it comes to the attack, there are few options that Scotland might use, but we predict to see Adams and Christie as the main figures for goal scoring.

The Scotland National Team managed to finish third in Group I with 5 wins and 5 defeats. Since they qualified for the EURO 2021 for the first time after more than two decades, it’s clear that they are willing to do their best to achieve the best possible result on the field
