Switzerland EURO 2021 Squad
Vladimir Petkovic, the manager of Switzerland, has announced the preliminary list of 29 players for the UEFA European Championship. The list will be cut down to 26 players until June 1, which is the final deadline. These 29 players have been invited to join the pre-tournament training camp, which will help Petkovic to make the final decision who’ll become the part of the final squad.
We can expect to see some very famous players, like Liverpool’s winger Xherdan Shaqiri, Newcastle’s centre-back Fabian Schar, and Arsenal’s midfielder Granit Xhaka, who is considered to be the most important player of his team according to his rich professional experience and amazing performance on the field through the years.
Besides Xhaka, Shaqiri and Schar, we can also expect to see Dortmund’s defender Manuel Akanji, Borussia Monchengladbach’s goalkeeper Yan Sommer and forward Breel Embolo, Atalanta’s midfielder Remo Freuler, etc.
So far, Switzerland hasn’t won the European Championship. Their biggest success in this tournament happened in 2016. They’ve managed to reach the Round 16, but no further than that, since they’ve lost on penalties to Poland.
They will be playing in Group A against Wales on June 12. After that they’ll play against Italy on June 16 and against Turkey on June 20.
