Scotland EURO 2021 Lineup
One of the biggest surprises of Scotland EURO 2021 Squad is that we’ll see some very young players. Steve Clarke has picked the ‘young trio fantastico’ Billy Gilmour, David Turnbull, and Nathan Patterson who are currently playing for the U21 team in Scotland.
This is the first call for these young players to become a part of the National team and represent their home country at UEFA European Championship. Clarke has said that this is the fantastic opportunity for the young boys to prove their amazing talent in the tournament.
If we consider that there are several injured players and three extra places in the team, the decision to bring three youngsters in the team isn’t much of a surprise! A 19-year-old Chelsea’s midfielder Gilmour stated that he’s very excited and proud to be part of the squad.
Besides these young players, we can expect to see captain Andy Robertson, Liverpool’s defender, alongside John McGinn, Aston Villa’s midfielder, Stuart Armstrong, Southampton’s midfielder, and Ryan Fraser, Newcastle’s midfielder.
Scotland is playing in Group D. They’ll play against Czech Republic on June 14. The next match will be against England on 18 June, while the 22 June is reserved for the match against Croatia.
Any changes might appear due to COVID-19 issues or in the case of injury. The reason why Scotland’s participation in the tournament is so important is because this is the first major men’s tournament they’ll be playing since 1998!
