Portugal EURO 2021 Lineup
The list of Portugal National team is here! The selector Fernando Santos is known as a man who doesn’t like to experiment so much. That’s why he has decided to play safe with proven, excellent players who are strong enough to break any opponent that gets in their way.
There are 11 football players, who won the European Championship title in France 4 years ago, on the list for the EURO 2021. We can expect to see goalkeeper Ru Patrisio, Anthony Lopes, Pepe, Jose Fonte, then left back Rafael Guerreiro, midfielders Joao Mutinho, Danilo, Renato Sanchez, William Carvalho, and offensive players Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafa Silva.
At first glance, we can tell for sure that Portugese football players are equally strong in all positions and it is hard to predict which players will manage to get on the top of the list. If we just take a look at some of the names such as: Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Diaz, Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix, Diogo Jota…
We can also see some of the rising stars of Sporting, such as Pedro Gonsalves. This is the first call of Gonsalves to the A team.
Players like Daniel Podens, Pedro Neto, and Fabio Silva haven’t been invited to join the team, so we won’t be seeing them in the National team. Also, there won’t be players like Trinkao, Ricardo Pereira (due to massive injury), Andre Gomes, Martins, Rui, Soares, Neto…
One of the most interesting facts is that the majority of the football players don’t come from the biggest Portugese and European football clubs. 4 players of the Portugal EURO 2021 Squad are coming from Wolverhampton, while only 1 is coming from Benfica.
Don’t miss to watch them against Hungary on June 15th! They are in Group F!
