Netherlands Euro 2021 Lineup
Dutch selector Frank de Boer has announced the expanded list for the UEFA European Championship of 2021! It has been recently confirmed that Ryan Babel and Kevin Strootman won’t be playing for the team, alongside Virgil van Dijk who is recovering from a knee injury.
Instead of Dijk, a 19-year-old Ajax stopper Jurrien Timber who can also play on the position of the right back. Cody Gakpo (PSV from Eindhoveen) will replace Babel.
The 26-year-old winger Anwar el Ghazi, who’s doing great at Aston Villa this season, is also on the list. El Ghazi has already scored 8 Premier League goals this season, which makes him a good candidate to make his first appearances for the national team since October 2015.
Romain Rick Karsdorp also returned to the team. He has managed to return to the national team for the first time since March 2017.
The Netherlands will start preparations for the European Championship on May 24, and two days later, De Boer will shorten the list to the final 26 names. Before the tournament, they will play friendly matches with Scotland (June 2 in Portugal) and Georgia (June 6 of the same month in Enschede).
