Czech – National Team EURO 2021 – All Important Information
Back in 1996, Czech National Team made it to the final of European Championship, while they were beaten semi-finalists at the Euro 2004 . Ever since then, they’ve never gotten that close to a trophy. They are looking forward to re-make their name at one of the biggest football tournaments and to prove, once again, that they really know how to play quality football.
Their biggest goal is to make a great run at the European Championship this year and to get out of their group, at least. The biggest fear of the football manager and the squad is to repeat the Euro 2016 scenario, where they left this major tournament without a single win. That’s why Czech team is ready to put all their efforts into the upcoming matches in order to achieve better success than in the past and to improve their reputation.
Let’s see all the key facts of the Czech National Team for this year’s major tournament. Who is their manager and key player? What tactics will they use? What will the possible lineup look like? Read all about it in the following lines.
Football Manager of the Czech National Team
Jaroslav Silhavy is the official manager of the Czech National Team and former football player. As a player, Silhavy has played 465 matches, which is a Czech league record. He played in TJ Skoda Plzen, RH Cheb, SK Slavia Prague, Petra Drnovice, and FK Viktoria Zizkov. In 1998 at Zizkov, he won the Personality of the League award at the Czech Footballer of the Year awards.
As a football manager, Jaroslav Silhavy has an impressive portfolio touring various clubs across his homeland. He was the most successful managing Slovan Liberec, in 119 games, since he won the Czech first division. In 2016, Silhavy took over Slavia Prague and managed to win the title in his first season. This was an impressive achievement, since Slavia hadn’t won the title for 8 years before that.
In September 2018, Jaroslav Silhavy was appointed as a manager of the Czech National Team, after they’d failed in qualifying for the major tournament, 2018 World Cup. The reason why many have great trust and respect in him as a manager is because he has led his nation on a decent run of his first 22 matches- 13 wins, 9 losses, without a single draw.
Everybody is hoping that Silhavy is good enough to guide the Czech National Team to achieve their biggest success at the European Championship so far.
Czech Possible Lineup for the European Championship
We can almost say for sure that Toumas Soucek (West Ham), Alex Kral (Spartak, Moskva), and Vladimir Darida (Hertha Berlin) will be responsible for the midfield. On the goal we can expect to see the experienced Tomáš Vaclík (Sevilla).
In the defense line we predict that Silhavy will set Tomáš Kalas (Bristol City), Pavel Kadeřábek (Hoffenheim), Vladimír Coufal (West Ham), and Aleš Matějů (Brescia). In the front lines, we expect Patrik Schick (Leverkusen) to dominate and score as much as possible, alongside Adam Hložek (Sparta Praha) and Matěj Vydra (Burnley).
The Key Player of the Czech National Team
Although everyone is aware of the amazing performance on the field by the goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik and the defender Vladimir Coufal, we have to give the crown to Tomas Soucek, midfielder, better known as the “Czech Fellani”.
Soucek, the current defensive midfielder of West Ham on loan, won Czech Player of the Year, after winning the Czech title with Slavia Prague in the 2018/19 season. He started his professional football career in 2005, in Slavia Prague’s youth team at just 10 years old. Tomas finished the last 2020-21 season as joint top scorer, alongside Michail Antonio. They both scored 10 goals.
It’s clear that the whole nation is expecting the 26-year-old Soucek to help his team get out of their group, at least. He’s covering every blade of grass and scores regularly.
